The information in this table is very valuable.

Questions: Answers Please?

1. What are the bus age specifications in the table shown? What are the buses given ages reletive to what date? For example, a year ago the age could be different from ages declared today? Are the ages of the bus age when the table was last updated? Age of bus at the last fire? Or, some other era?

2. For the times with the questino mark is the time near that time or could be any time of day?

3. Where does the data int the table come from? Do you think it is very accurate or does one have to allow for a little error?

Thank you,
Guy

Età del bus all'ultimo fuoco? O qualche altra era?

Cordiali saluti,
Guy

It is my current opinion that the manufacturers non fail safe burning busses need to recall their busses and impliment redesigned fail safe changes to fix their busses.

The EU has published Citaro recall notices for fire risk. So, Mercedes Benz knows of the problem and will recall the busses. They have been doing it! But, even other countries have had the problem with Citaro buses also burning. If remember right they include Malta, Singapore, and Hungary.

In Italy there is the, MIT, some sort of ministry of transport that can be of help.

Do you want more information? I have not put it all together yet.

London had Citaro buses burning and they were withdrawn from service by Mecedes Benz in March of 2004. They were repaired or redesigned and returned to service. That is why asked about the date in the table. 12 and 13 year old buses might or might not be from the same production runs.

Years later London got rid of the Citaro bendy busses that they had called Chariots of Fire.

There are other countries having this problem.

Any dangerous product that fails in a dangerous way, or that is not fail safe, should be recalled by the manufacturer and fixed to fail safe manner.

Such systomatic dangerous failures could be a design problem. The designer and manufacture has the responsibility, information, records, tools, and staff to rectify such problems.

London addressed the prblem in two ways. Immediate manufacturer product recall. And years later not using those buses.

I have collected stories of Citaro fires in other countries.

Sincerely,

Guy
